Meet GIIC

Cristóvão Andresen Leitão

I have been a conference interpreter since 1988 when I started working through GIIC for the President of the Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other public and private entities in Portugal.
I was a founder member of GIIC Ldª, which existed from 1990 to 2006. Today I manage GIIC activities from my own company Monte dos Pensamentos TR.

I have worked in the most varied fields in Portugal and abroad, particularly in banking and insurance, European Institutions and the United Nations.

I was born in 1957 and have four children.

Manuel Sant'Iago Ribeiro

I have been a conference interpreter since 1977 and have worked closely with GIIC since 1985. I am currently responsible for answering e-mails, providing quotes to customers and recruiting teams. In 1986, I was the first permanent interpreter in the Portuguese booth at the European Parliament. In 1993 I returned to Portugal to work as a freelancer.
I have interpreted in a wide range of sectors in Portugal and abroad, from European Institutions, the United Nations and other global, public and private organisations.

I am also involved in Union and Association activities, training and dissemination both here and abroad. I also provide consultancy and recruit directly for various PCOs in Portugal and for international organisations.

I was born in 1957.

Vera Futscher Pereira

I became an interpreter in 1986 after completing a European Parliament training course at the École de Traduction et d’Interprétation in Geneva.
Since then I have worked regularly for the European Institutions. I was a founder member of GIIC Ldª and am now team leader in teams recruited by us.

From 1983 to 1986 I worked as Public Relations Officer at the Cinemateca Portuguesa and was a journalist in the ANOP and NP press agencies from 1977 to 1984.
I was born in 1953 and lived for several years in the U.S.A., Spain and Belgium.

Kathryn Watson

I became an interpreter in 1987. I work chiefly in Portugal for a wide range of customers covering such varied subjects as telecommunications to sport, or public administration to international relations.
I was a founder member of GIIC Ldª and at present am team leader at conferences organized by us. This involves preparatory work and coordination at the conference venue.

I am an equitation enthousiast and am currently secretary of the Riding for the Disabled in Cascais.

I was born in the UK in 1948 and have two children.
